Supported tape device formats – Mezzo v.4.5

Due the nature of computer hardware marketing (where a single drive can be repackaged under different names from different manufacturers), it is impossible to test every device available. Therefore, the list below contains very few references to specific drives – instead, the different supported formats themselves are listed (such as AIT 1, 2, 3 or LTO “Ultrium” drives, etc.)

Because Mezzo 4.x has intelligent device drivers, you should be able to use any model of archiving device as long as its format is listed. During program launch, Mezzo will scan your system for recognizable archiving devices – if a device has not yet been “registered” by Mezzo, a dialog will appear where you can specify what format of archiving device it is and also name the device for your own reference. As long as the drive is of a format that Mezzo already supports, you should be able to start using it immediately.

Note that
Mezzo supports transfers to and from tape devices through SCSI or FireWire and select FibreChannel cards.

• DAT – DDS 1, 2, 3 and 4
